Willy Wonka doesn’t organise marathons. But if he did, it’d probably be the best marathon in the world. Would he hide golden race numbers in energy gels? Would that be any better than the London Marathon ballot?
My recent love affair with the London Marathon continued at the weekend but not as a runner. As an unlucky ballot entrant I wasn’t running the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon but was closer to the action than ever before.

Fridays seem to be the hardest day to Juneathon (yes, it is a verb as well as a noun) what with the end of the working week and the weekly big shop. Today I went for an alternative option.
I was looking forward to today’s Juneathon activity and it didn’t disappoint. Today, as well as my own success at the City of London Mile, I had success as a coach.
A Saturday is normally a running day for me but I want my legs to be fresh for the City of London Mile tomorrow. There’s still been running-related activities though.

Last week I was among nearly 38,000 London Marathon finishers but what are the chances of me running next year? Major ballot changes may make it fairer but certainly won’t make it easier when the 2016 London Marathon ballot opens tomorrow.
