I woke up this morning with a groan. My whole body ached. It wasn’t surprising after the deceivingly simple yet lung busting session yesterday. Although I may have been too quick to accuse.
Only two things in spring marathon training are certain: you’ll have to squeeze training around real life and you’ll have to run in the dark. And I see no reason why my experience should be any different! After the early morning interval session yesterday I’ve had a busy weekend.
As I’ve mentioned already, I’m preparing to take on my first marathon in April at the London Marathon in aid of African Children’s Fund. I’ve already become a lab rat in order to test my body and I’ve sat with my coach and mentor to talk through the training strategy.
I’ll share more about my strategy and training plan in future posts but today is all about revelling in one thing: the end of my last easy running week until the end of April!
As runners, we’re always measuring ourselves in some way or another – how far, how fast, new PBs – but with my biggest running challenge on the horizon I wanted to measure myself very specifically, with the help of RaceFit Consulting.
Last month I was selected to be part of a Running Bug team to put the new TomTom Runner Cardio watch to the test. Having used the adidas miCoach SmartRun watch for the last 9 months it was a great opportunity to put them head-to-head.
