Here’s the next installment about my recent participation in the international sketchbook project organised by Arthouse.
The theme I chose was “Along The Line” which I’ve interpretted both literally in terms of the style of my drawings but also to use the pages to portray different things associated with the timeline of my life so far – a mini-autobiography, if you will.
When I moved to Aberdeen I was lucky enough to find a flat that was close to the city centre and close to the beach. Now obviously, being on the North Sea, it wasn’t really a beach for sunbathing but I’ve always loved being by the coast.
“Coastline” depicts one fo the many timber groins that run out into the sea along Aberdeen beach to help prevent erosion. It’s an interesting contrast between the fixed straightlines of the groin and the dynamic waves of the sea.
